Frequently asked questions

Do you do pets other than dogs or cats?

Yes! From bunnies to birds, hamsters to horses, and everything in between ... as long you have good photos. I'm afraid I don't do humans though. Even if you're really cute, sorry!

Can I preview my pet portrait before it's posted?

You will see the initial sketch stage - this is the opportuntiy for you to make a small change. Once the painting stage is finished you will see your portrait once more to confirm your background colour choice.

Do you do pet memorial portraits?

I always feel very honoured to be asked to create a custom portrait in memory of a beloved pet who has passed. I can work with you to choose the perfect photo from the what you have available.

Can I change my order?

If you contact me within 12 hours of your order being placed I will try my best to accommodate your changes.

What makes the perfect photo choice?

  • Well lit, no filters, no dark shadows.
  • Close-up, facing forward photos work best. Make sure the eyes are clearly visible.
  • Avoid overhead or blurry photos.
Check the Image Guideline for more information.

What is your return policy?

Due to the custom nature of the pet portraits, I am unable to offer refunds. If you are unhappy with your portrait, please contact me within 24 hours of receipt and I will work with you to make things right.

What if my item is damaged?

So far that hasn't happened, but it's possible that a portrait could get damaged during shipping. Please contact me within 24 hours of receipt, providing photos of the damage, and I will work to get it replaced.

How long will my portrait take?

Your portrait will usually be despatched approximately 2-4 weeks from receipt of suitable photos. When you book your portrait I will let you know the approximate timescale.

How do you do your portraits?

Your custom pet portrait painting will be hand drawn and "painted" digitally using similar techniques to a traditional painting on canvas - but I use pixels instead of paint! Each portrait is 100% individually hand painted using a digital tablet. Every brushstroke and each pencil line is done by hand. There are no gimmicks, automated apps or special effects.

What sort of paper do you print on?

I only print on the best quality paper. I use Hahnemühle German Etching paper, which is an archival, traditional mould-made copperplate printing paper. It has a beautiful velvety textured surface.
